Being just a 30-minute drive from Preston thanks to the M55 being just 10 minutes away, and 20 minutes from Blackpool via the A586, our new build homes in Great Eccleston are perfectly located for those commuting to and from either of these major settlements.
For anyone needing to take the bus, the nearest bus stop can be found on Copp Lane, less than a 5-minute walk from Oakview Quarter. From there, hop onto the hourly 74 between Fleetwood and Preston or the hourly 78 between Great Eccleston and St Anne’s via Warton and Lytham, both operated by Archway Travel.
Less than 15 minutes from our development, the nearby town of Poulton-le-Fylde provides regular train services to the bustling cities of Manchester in just one hour and 15 minutes and Liverpool in just over an hour. There are also very regular direct trains to Blackpool North, which get you into the town in just 6 minutes.
And for international travel, both Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport can be reached in just over one hour by car, giving you a great number of options for holiday destinations around the world.
Things to do around Great Eccleston
With our new builds in Great Eccleston being so close to both Preston and Blackpool, you’ll never be short of things to do.
For example, Oakview Quarter is located right between Beacon Fell Country Park, perfect for when you’re in the mood for some countryside walks, and Blackpool Pleasure Beach, where you’ll be able to take in the fresh sea air and make the most of all its attractions.
Nearby Preston is also home to both the Lancashire Infantry Museum and the Ribble Steam Museum for some more cultural outings.
For a good meal out, the Farmers Arm in Great Eccleston serves all your pub favourites, while The Cartford Inn offers a more glamorous option, combining French technique and Lancashire flavours for a special experience. It’s also a great place for afternoon tea.
Your weekly food shops can be done in Poulton-le-Fylde, where you’ll find a Lidl, a Tesco Express and an ALDI, while any retail therapy can be done in either Preston (St George’s Shopping Centre) or in Blackpool (Houndshill Shopping Centre).
Schools in Great Eccleston
Our new homes in Willington are situated near several primary schools and nurseries.
Just a 20-minute walk from Oakview Quarter is St Mary’s Catholic Primary School for children aged 4-11. The school also has the adjoining Little Village Nursery for younger children up to the age of 5.
Great Eccleston is also home to St Anne's Copp CofE Primary School, which is a 28-minute walk or 5-minute drive from the development for ages 3-11.
The nearest secondary school can be found in Poulton-le-Fylde, where Hodgson Academy welcomes pupils between the ages of 11-16, while you’ll find Millfield School (also ages 11-16) a bit further afield in Thornton-Cleveleys.
As for any local higher education, the University of Lancashire is in Preston, allowing anyone to further their knowledge in the area without having to fully leave the nest.
